Half Year

Half years are students who joined the Academy for the Spring semester of their classes' first year (or otherwise only attend a year and a half of the Academy, and still graduate). The first known half years were of the Navigator class. Most half years must take summer classes between their first and second years in order to catch up, and are therefore up to speed when they go into their second year. Half years are free to become CLs and are eligible for privileges in May.

Half years join for various reasons. To be accepted as a half year, a student must show very strong performance (IE better than the rest of their class). With the success of the Navigator half years, the idea seems to have been accepted past its trial basis.
