What actually happens
You read all of Huckelberry Finn and Faulkner's As I Lay Dying, as well as a bunch of short stories and poems by canonical literaturists. As far as literature classes go, it's a fairly easy course. Most of the works we read are fairly easy to comprehend (except sometimes the pieces written using the modernist style), and the quizzes and assignments are not very in depth. If you read the assignments, you will get a good grade in the class, even if you aren't usually good at English classes.
