Half Year

Half years are students who joined the Academy for the Spring semester of their classes' first year (or otherwise only attend a year and a half of the Academy, and still graduate). The first known half years were of the Navigator class. Most half years take summer classes to catch up, and are known as full second years after they catch up. Half years are free to become CLs and are eligible for privs in May (good luck on that one).

Half years join for various reasons. Some had second thoughts about the Academy in the summer, some did not know about the Academy, and whatnot. To be accepted as a half year, a student must show strong performance (IE better than the rest of their class). With the success of the Navigator half years, the idea seems to have been accepted past its trial basis.
