The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a test that is intended to classify one's personality in 4 areas: extraversion vs. introversion, sensing vs. intuition, thinking vs. feeling, and judging vs. perceiving. If you want to learn more about the MBTI, you can visit the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myers-Briggs_Type_Indicator wikipedia page]. Or you can just forget the learning and blindly take the [http://www.kisa.ca/personality/ online test]. For more accuracy, I recommend taking the test and then verifying that the outputted type is realistic.

As a type is only 4 bits, it can't tell you everything about a person, just hint at one's general behavioral patterns and thinking style. There are also issues with the so-called "[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forer_effect Forer Effect]," which describes how people will sometimes pick certain choices only because they improve their self-image.

So while the test is not perfect, it can be interesting nonetheless, and a person's personality and behavior usually correlate to some degree to their type.

Overview of the test[edit]

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a test that is intended to classify one's personality in 4 areas: extraversion vs. introversion, sensing vs. intuition, thinking vs. feeling, and judging vs. perceiving. If you want to learn more about the MBTI, you can visit the PersonalityPage site. Or you can just jump right in and take the online test (or 1 or 2). Your results can vary, and are only meant as a guide. Afterwards, you might try reading some type descriptions online and verifying that the outputted type accurately describes you.

The online test[edit]

The online test is a greatly simplified version of the official test, which contains about 160 questions. Unfortunately, the average person cannot give him or herself this test as it requires certification. Dr. Bob, however, can, and probably will if you ask him.
