About

  • Model United Nations, MUN, is an organization in which the participants research countries and represent them at conferences in various committees, in an attempt to emulate the real United Nations.
  • Each year usually involves two conferences, one in the fall and one in the spring. For the past five years, the fall conference has been the regional one held in Springfield, MO. The National conferences participated in during the spring have been New York City (2005 and 2007), Chicago (2006), and Berkeley, California (2008).
  • This organization requires significant time input, including weekly meetings, research on countries and topics, writing a paper for each conference, and practicing public speaking.
  • MUN has been blessed to receive a large amount of Academy funding, which is used to subsidize the cost of trips, usually about $20 for the Springfield Conference, and $180 for the National ones, which includes airfare, transportation, and lodging.
