Interesting effort you've got here. You guys are aware that you can use anything on wikipedia to seed pages here, right? And conversely, since you have GNUFDL tag on here, anything on this site could be moved over to Wikipedia (though most of the things here are probably not of interest to a general encyclopedia). 64.161.25.248 19:03, 3 Mar 2005 (EST)

Trolls

Trolls can do a lot of damage to a wiki. I forget where, but the wikipedia has statistics saying that over 90% of trolling activities are done by anonomous users. Might we think about disallowing anonmous edits on all but talk pages? I know it's sort of distasteful, but one troll could really mess things up in a hurry. -Goofyheadedpunk

I really don't like the idea, but it would go a ways towards preventing trolling, which is bound to happen eventually. For the moment, though, I put a request on the front page. -Chrax
Yeah. I just don't want to come back from class one day and find HORSECOCK on every page, made by some random IP. -Goofyheadedpunk
A valid concern. -Chrax
I agree -Squishypickle
So are we going to do something now, or just wait and see? -Goofyheadedpunk
Is there a way to limit the ammount of editing can be done by a certain IP address in a given ammount of time? Say, 3 edits per hour unless the person registers? Personally I would prefer to stick with the good will of people for now, at lest untill this site get's going really good. -Andy
I don't like the idea of limiting posts/hour. Especially because the entire Academy will have the same IP. To me the options are either trust people or require registration. Until something happens, I suggest the trusting. -Chrax
I was thinking only limiting the posts per hour to unregistered people. -Andy
Yes, but unregistered means you go by IP, and everybody at Northwest will show up as the same IP. (Also, sign your name when you post.) -Chrax

It seems we have had our visit from a spam robot... -Squishypickle

rss/atom

Is rss/atom a new feature or did I just never notice it? If it's new, who added? It's cool. - Mpnolan 17:34, 29 Jun 2005 (EDT)
