 RC Situation

o Consistency is lacking, mainly in the female RCs.

? Certain Rules are really inconsistent because theyre not clear or different depending on the RC.

The Shoe Policy from the lab to the lounge is okay, right?! We just need the shoes with us.  Thats what we were told last year.

o Dont be that worried about it.

o Part of it is intent. If a student is teasing hehe I have my shoes Then no. Youre in trouble, kid.

7:30-8 sign in and then going to the station. Reasoning: Because now we know youre in the building. Is it that much of a difference to check the sign-out sheet to say where we went after 7:30?

o To look into it.

 4-6 ? 2nd years

o Its a senior priv based on GPA because not known. Happened before.

o If its because the 4.0s are more responsible . No.

Senior privs  - glad your back! Sam will talk to the staff about it [when?].

o Change it to not being a 1st year with different classes.

o Goal: weekend extended curfew.

? It would help if we had a reason behind the rule. And the one (or few) real reasons.

? Some RCs treat some people better than other people.

? Some RCs treat everyone better than other RCs do.

? We hear, Were so busy, but we dont ever see what theyre doing.  What are the RCs duties?

o Locking myself out of my room. I knocked on Lisa and Cassies doors and no one answered. Then I took a shower, got out, called their rooms, and knocked on Lisas door again. This was about 10:30 A.M. I called the RLO and they said theyd send someone up. 15 minutes later (ish) I called again and they said they would send someone up 10 minutes later (ish) Sue comes up stairs, unlocks my door, and

o Michelle called Beth to quickly unlock her door.  Beth, sounding sleepy and in her room, called another RC to try to get her in.  Jerry told her to come to the RLO.. uh.. no clothes Eventually makes it to the RLO.

o Alex Bradford dropped her keys down the elevator shaft.  Lisa said hed get Winston to help.. and shes like, No. They fell.  So she got sent to Sue to get a replacement fob. She might have to pay because they wont let her go downstairs with maintenance to get them.  Lisa refused to help with the problem.

o Lisa asked me to do a favor for her to look for someone on 4th floor. She ended up getting distracted and we separated.

o Adventure Week incident one of the 1st year students was having problems (sobbing, Niharika sat with her, she started to hyperventilate).  They tried to get help.  Neal, Call Lisa. And he wrote the number on the post-it, gave it to Aman (instead of just calling it).  Went the Beth, went to Cassie= Call Lisa. Found Lisa in her room, What do you want? Ill be there in 15 minutes. 20-ish later, she gives orange juice to the girl, calls mom [didnt happen before], Lisa told her to take a nap and left.  Way to care.

o The Way Were Treated

? Handling of Rules:

VP Office in HS:  Tell me what happened first.  Dr. Jennings generally does this, but we dont get the same kind of treatment with all of the RCs, possibly the majority.

Instead the RCs tend to act hostile and assume were guilty.  The way its handled is commonly bad.

o Cassie/Lisa outside of 2nd yelling at Cameron and I.

? Some treat us like were equals.  Others go on a power kick.

? Sams e-mail:  They should be able to trust us, right? Why dont they show it?

o Lets Fix The Problem!!!

? Have a meeting with the RCs and a student board

? Well be more respected if we dont go to Sam first. Sam can know, but he doesnt necessarily have to come.

? You dont respect us.  - Theyll try to prove us wrong.

? Lets keep this a consistent thing so the RCs dont go back to their same habits.  Make this a new committee or change one.  Res Life? Or change of AIC.  Discussion of problems should not be a part of the SGA meeting because were not able to speak as freely.

 Driving Situation

o At 5 the RLO takes over. Whatever RCs are not off or in the RLO should be available to drive.

o The point of having the new system = 1-on-1, etc. Not happening.

? Other reasons for the new system? Sam says: to make it easier. Overtime, itll be like amazon.

o Since youre not allowed to have cars, well drive you! No problem. = Orientation

o Bad Situations:

? RCs told a student was sick and needed a ride to Wal-Mart for medicine.  Storys not usable anymore because of the confusion.

? Girls walking back from wal-mart when it was dark, catcalls, called RLO, no one would come pick them us. Youre okay.

? Many other little ones.

 Our Rules/Policies

o Consistency (see above)

o Reasoning behind some of the rules we would like them!

? If we know why its important, its more important to us

? Examples:

Piggy Backs because youre a CL.

o Please tell us when we are written up

? Andy Late for lit, etc. Hears about it in the meeting with Sam

o Can we go to the station between 10-10:30 with privs?

? It all depends. For those allowed to be out after curfew, yes.

Student Government Association Get more involved with the introduction of rules and policies. This would stop the make a rule and then it fails and then make another rule etc.

The RCs are supposed to be available from 4-12 about.

In the day time, handle your problems in the RLO.  It gives the RCs a time off.

Cell phone policy is changing immediately!!! :D

Letters are coming to parents soon.

- cell phones

- ER getting tests.

- Health stuff KJs situation. Most important: health and safety. Awkward conversation about birth control. Were 16, the parents dont have to know.  Health Center decides if mom/dad gets called or not.

- Parent may be contacted if a student is treated for more than a common cold.

Faith and I = co-chairs(?) for the 2nd-year experience.. about 10 people or so.
