Welcome[edit]

I don't know if you've ever used a wiki, so you may already know some of this stuff.
A wiki is basically a web site that anybody can edit, which makes it a very nice medium for a collaborative project, especially one involving compiling knowledge. As you don't have much experience at the Academy, we don't very well expect you to be editing a lot around here, but you (pretty much less than second year) are our target audience, as we are attempting to fill this with knowledge we would have liked to have had ahead of time.

As a side note, a rather common theme you may notice is that this place isn't all it's cracked up to be. We don't want people to not apply, but we feel that if they come in believing every word they heard at preview day, they're going to be rather disappointed.

As the target audience, you can play a very useful role in the wiki by telling us what you want to know. We've taken care of a lot of the class descriptions, but the social situation is woefully incomplete here.

Now if you do feel like editing (say your user page), then I suggest stopping by the introduction and editing help sections. In fact, I suggest doing so either way, as those have tidbits of etiquette that are handy to know right from the off, and not have to be edited and bitched at.

One handy way of telling what's been done recently is the recent changes list. Unless you're planning on just creating new things constantly, you'll often want to know what other people have been doing.

Anyway, if you have any questions, ask on my talk page, as that will post a yellow box at the top of my pages. -Chrax
