The Assigned Task[edit]
Ha, so I finally completed the assigned task.
Or at least I have begun.
Disclaimer[edit]
If I had more magic wiki knowledge I would have made this a little fancier. And I wouldn't have been so late coming in the game, considering that the first year is over and you probably know who I am by now. Perhaps for posterity, i.e. if a future firsty gets a little too into this whole browsing what the academy may be like business.
I will have to put my two cents in for the acadachan. Go there. Do it. I hate imageboards and yet I frequent that one intensely.
Just a little blurgh[edit]
I am told that people don't like me because I don't talk to people outside the group of people whom I talk to. This is just hearsay though, I don't really know, because I don't talk to those people. In case you can't tell I'm trying to be a little witty. I enjoy being witty. I'm usually good at it if you have the right taste in wit. Those who do talk to me will probably say that a)I'm vulgar (it's fun), b)I am at least kind of witty, c)Sometimes I use horribly convoluted grammar structures for my sentences which means that i)My sentences are far too long, ii)they don't make a whole lot of sense unless you're paying attention, and iii)they are gramatically stable, but I push it as hard as I can, and d)I like acadawords.
A Crude Note on Acadawords[edit]
Acadawords are words that are generally not used unless you're at the academy. They may be viable words, but in anything other than acadacontext they won't make sense in your sentence. Most of them either originated here or somewhere on the internets and were crudely adopted by us before most normal people could get a hold of them. Acadawords can be very specific words, or they can be changes to old words. Like making things plural beyond necessity. Internets. Interwebs. Also, most words used to describe something related to the academy have acada- attached to them. I like to think I use acadagrammar as I talk. Fake government food money can be referred to as aladollars or acadadollars. Academites. Acadabuilding. Acadacontext. Acadapromz. Etc. I can't really think of anything off of the top of my head.
What the Academy Has Done to Me[edit]
How I was Before[edit]
Ha, what am I even doing? Correct. I used to have lots of political willpower and would care about things like that but now I don't. I'm an extremely hardcore libertarian, love Ayn Rand books (Atlas Shrugged FOR THE WIN), but I don't bring that to people's attention as much as I used to. Anarchocapitalism seems like a fun idea. I am also distinctly nonreligious. I wouldn't necessarily say Atheist, almost Agnostic except that no one wants to be known as an Agnostic, but calling myself Deist seems a little extreme and late 18th century. I don't dislike the idea of religion, and I don't dislike religious people, but it's not something worth talking to me about whether you agree or disagree. It's an uncomfortable topic that I feel strongly about and I really dislike people who express just how strongly they feel about things so I do my best just not to discuss it.
How I am Now[edit]
In general, I'm just a mellower, more extreme version of the old me. If that makes any sense. Politcally/Philosophically/etc. I don't talk about it as much and I do my best to avoid its discussion. I'll join in every now and then but I won't enjoy it and I'll moderate my opinion heavily so that I don't have to actually talk about it much. On the other hand, I talk to more people than I used to and am not an asshole to those I don't like. At least I don't think so, I'm not really sure. I wobble between being productive and not doing anything and developing complexes about how I'm not doing anything and then I get sad and depressed for a bit and then I'm okay. Not necessarily in that order though. Also, I'm now more prone to divulge random nonsense like this over media like this wiki. And in general I use funnier words and my grammar has slowly fallen out of shape. It conforms to acadagrammar standards but not those generally accepted by society.
The W Curve[edit]
The W Curve is Not a Lie[edit]
So, for any future student out there, you're going to go to your first day of seminar. Or your first week or your second week or something like that I can't remember. I'm just trying to say eventually you are going to be shown the W curve. You are going to laugh at it. You will think it is funny, crude, simple, dumb, and not worth your time. You'll have to talk about it for a bit and you will think the discussion is ridiculous. Then, come February, you're going to know exactly what they were talking about.
The W Curve is Scary and Accurate[edit]
For some it will be faster than others and for some it will look a lot more like a mountain range than a W. However, the point is is that your acadafuntimes are going to range from YAY ADVENTUREWEEK-YAY SCHOOL-ugh school at least this fun-yeah it's still fun-I LOVE MY FRIENDS-I have to see everyone all the time-midterms-sad-FRIENDS YAY-how do I get away from my friends?- finals-eww but thank god that's over with-WINTER BREAK-ahh sad where are all my friends they are on the other side of the state-YAY MY FRIENDS AGAIN-YAY NEW CLASSES-I LOVE IT HERE-Jesus Christ it is cold- Ohh god it is so cold-it is cold here all the time-cold...-sad...-will February ever end?-Why is March cold too?-midterms-midterms not as good as expected because you didn't study as much second semester because you did so well first semester- OHH HEY I STILL HAVE FRIENDS-I LOVE IT HERE YAY!- ALMOST DONE!- MAY SESSION! FREE TIME! FRIENDS!- ohh wait May Session is a lot of work...-YEAH MAY SESSION I FINISHED THE YEAR KICK ASS!-Wait what will I do about not having friends for the next three months?
Brace Yourself[edit]
Of course, the year might not progress exactly like that. But be prepared to wobble for seemingly no apparent reason because it will happen and if you don't accept it things will just be weird and awkward and it will take a lot longer to get over than you previously imagined.
