Student Impressions[edit]

"Dr. Sam Jennings II is the new director of student development. He's a likable guy, very fair and laid-back. He enjoys a good game of raquetball, and often plays with Academy students. I love the man for his hatred of calling all-academy meetings. He believes they accomplish nothing and piss people off, which is an attitude our dean should adopt. Sam also has amazing turn-around time: if you tell him there's a [small] problem at 10:00am, he has taken action to rectify it by 2:00pm." -Member of the Class 2007

  • {Addendum to above: More recent classes have a adopted a less-favorable view of Dr. Jennings, mainly because of his role as the disciplinarian of the Academy. This has made him an intimidating character to most students, especially those who do not regularly meet with him. For the students who do take the time to get to know him (which all students should do, as he is extremely open to speaking to students and listening to their problems!), he is known to be easy to talk to and commonly crack jokes.}

"Jennings policies are such that alumni will be pleased for him to serve as Director of Student Development (as he works to make the Academy a more prestigious place), but students may disagree with him at times (because he is willing to sacrifice individuals who may make the Academy look bad). An example of this lies in the punishments dealt out for certain rule-breaking: There was a girl in the class of 2010 who was know for sneaking on to 3rd floor to "spend time" with her boyfriend. Once caught, she received no lasting punishment. Another student was caught shoplifting $5 of Walmart items, and was promptly kicked out simply because he had a criminal record. Shoplifters have a paper trial, and therefor stand no chance before Jennings. Internal rule-breaker (even when the rule broken is more severe) do not, and are generally given a slap on the wrist. This is the Jennings Doctrine, and it has benefits and drawbacks, depending on your point of view." -Alum2010
