Classes taught[edit]

Style & personality[edit]

Dr. Kondrashov puts all his lectures onto powerpoint presentations.

In General Zoology, the powerpoint presentations are available to students a week or two before the scheduled lecture on eCompanion (Northwest's online class website dealio). These lectures are only available for a week or two after the scheduled lecture. Dr. Kondrashov tries to put everything important onto the slides, but he requires that students know what he lectures, not just what he puts on paper.

In Comparative Anatomy, the powerpoint presentations are only for his lecturing ability. Students in this upper level biology course must pay close attention in class and record diligently their own notes. However, supplemental lab/lecture manuals are provided for this class filled mainly of charts of muscles and their characteristics, diagrams of animals, and lists of things to know.

In Lab, including Zoology and Comparative Anatomy lab, Dr. Kondrashov lectures for the first part of the class period. This may take ten to twenty mintues or a whole hour. He expects students to write down notes over the labs. The last part of the lab is dedicated to the students doing the labs with help from excellent lab assistants and Dr. Kondrashov, himself.

Dr. Kondrashov loves mollusks (Malacology:study of mollusks) which students learn in his General Zoology class. He also likes Vertebrate Paleontology, Comparative Anatomy, Vertebrate Zoology, and Ornithology.

Student opinions[edit]

I loved taking Zoology and Comparative Anatomy with Dr. Kondrashov. He taught very well and he was always available to help us. He was very trustworthy of his students often leaving the lab open for study. He frequently walked around the lab, giving advice on how to dissect or confirming the labeling of the innards of animals. If you do well in his class or at least work hard, he will like you. He's a very nice guy and I recommend his classes to most anyone. - Stuey

Dr. Kondrashov was hilarious and capativating for those students who LOVE biology--like me. I always enjoyed going to his class and learning. His labs were great too. Never EVER take anyone else... seriously, they don't know what they're talking about. Kondrashov is THE best biology teacher I've encountered at Northwest. -Ashley Banaszek
