Dr. Ross's class is, for the most part, very predictable, and thus by many accounts terribly boring. He begins each class by talking about the daily "agenda", a term which fires some complex of neurons that makes everyone fall asleep. There's an up-side: he's very organized. He'll usually have papers and speeches back within a week, and the comments are typically specific and helpful ("Work on eye contact in future speeches"). Unfortunately, as with most Oral Comm. classes, those comments are about the only aid you're given to improve your public speaking. Class time is used almost entirely for one of two things: presenting speeches or iterating through book material. Out of class, he's open to discussion. I sent him an e-mail about changing the test's format, and I wrote me a detailed reply and brought it up during a meeting.
