Classes taught

Style & personality

A terrifying man when you first meet him. He towers oh, around six feet, white hair, large build. He's a good professor though. He goes fast, so keep up and write everything down.

He has four exams. One comprehensive final. Four quizzes. The quizzes will SAVE YOUR LIFE. You take them home. The class decides as a whole when they are due (the class also decides when your tests are). You can do them with your friends (or the class mathematical genius...). The big thing is that if you can do the quiz, you can do the test because the quiz is purposefully more difficult than the exam.

Best thing about Malm (besides the fact that he is very willing to help, rarely makes you feel like an idiot, and an all-around pretty cool teacher) is summed up in 2 words: Partial Credit.

Student opinions

Although he sometimes goes a little too fast when teaching new material (he expects you to get it the first time), he is nonetheless a good teacher if you go in for help. Dr. Malm also has a pretty good sense of humor when he makes really funny comments under his breath during class.

Ben: Dr. Malm is a very good professor, as he moves fairly quickly (this leads to more review time) and communicates the material very well. He's usually one of the first ones out the door when class ends, but he strives to make sure everyone understands by the end of class. He makes the course itself pretty reasonable, working numerous examples before he expects students to work any problems completely independently.
